Historical Society "Between Fences"
photography contest accepting entries now through December 20,
2010. The Smithsonian traveling exhibit
"Between Fences" is here from December 11, 2010 until
February 26, 2011. This is one of only 6 in the state where the
traveling exhibit will be displayed. Winners of the photography
contest will be announced after the new year and will be on display at
Fawn Creek Gallery, 6th & Main St. in Meeker. Mark your calendar
to attend the official opening of the exhibit on December 11th.
You'll find history of the Thornburg Battle Site that
was the last major Indian uprising in the United States that involved
the US Cavalry and the Buffalo Soldiers. Teddy Roosevelt was in
Meeker, CO, the Ute Indians lived here for hundreds of years - we have a
lot of history!
